The Meningitis Trust is an international charity with a strong community focus, fighting meningitis through the provision of support, education & awareness and research.
Our vision and mission encapsulate what we are striving to achieve:

Mission– “Continuing to be the world authority on meningitis, leading the fight against the disease and empowering people and organisations through collaborative working, to reduce the threat of meningitis and its impact on people everywhere.”

  • We provide the following services across all countries in which we operate:
  • 24 hour Helpline led by specially trained nurses
    Network of community groups and volunteers
    One to One Contacts
    In addtion, the following services are available in the UK and are gradually being introduced in the other geographics as funding bcomes available:
  • Professional counselling service (available in UK & ROI)
    Financial grants (UK only)
    Home Visiting service (UK only)
    Raising awareness about meningitis is the only way to protect communities in the absence of effective vaccines and our campaigning work reaches all age groups, from the under 5’s, to university students, to the over 55’s.
  • Our extensive range of education programmes, originally produced in the UK, are specially tailored for health professionals, including:
  • Meningitis Matters CD rom
  • Slide presentation packs
  • Inpractice virtual learning environment
  • Dedicated website for health professionals and students at www.inmedonline.com
    Interactive website for teachers, students and parents; www.meningitis-learning.org
    Yet funding medical research into life saving vaccines, treatments and the effects of meningitis remain a key aim for the Meningitis Trust. Since 1986 grants totalling over £4 million have been awarded for funding research into all aspects of the disease. The Trust became a member of the Association of Medical Research Charities (AMRC) www.amrc.org.uk in 1999.
