Description

The Foundation was established in 1981 to further research and educate people with arthritis. It provides a comprehensive education service which includes a wide range of information leaflets, information lectures by health professionals, annual information days in Dublin, Cork and West of Ireland, quarterly newsletter, children's programme and mail order catalogue. The Foundation relies almost entirely on voluntary contributions, with the success of the programmes depending largely on money raised by the Foundation.

Aims ans Objectives: To help people with arthritis to achieve the best possible quality of life.

Services

Branches
The Foundation has branches in Donegal, Kildare, Limerick and Mayo and regional Development Officer in Cork. The branch promotes the Foundation locally, distribute leaflets, organise lectures and fundraise locally.

Education Material
The Foundation produces a wide range of education leaflets on different types of arthritis and treatment.

Arthritis News
Arthritis News is a quarterly magazine packed with up to date news on the Foundation's activities, articles and regular questions and answers. Arthritis News is distributed quarterly to Friends of the Foundation.

Friends of the Foundation
Friends of the Foundation has been established to update people on new developments in arthritis, answer questions and also inform people of the Foundation's forthcoming events. There is an annual membership of £20 and it is available to anyone who is interested in arthritis and the work of the Foundation.

Information Days
The Foundaiton hosts an annual Information Day in Dublin and Cork with a third planned for West of Ireland later this year.

Information Lectures
The Foundation hosts arthritis information lectures on different topics by health care professionals.

Juvenile Arthritis Programme
The Juvenile Arthritis Family Day brings families together each year to help them gain the knowledge and skills necessary to meet the challenges of childhood arthritis. The Foundation produces a bi-annual newsletter Parents News.

Resource Centre/Aids and Appliances Mail Order Catalogue
The Mail Order Catalogue is full of helpful items that can make day to day tasks that bit easier. The Resource Centre displays a limited selection of items from the catalogue.

National Social Services Mobile Unit
The NSSB and the Foundation commenced a joint initiative whereby two mobile citizens information service units were equipped with arthritis information displays. These two mobile units visit various parts of the country throughout the year distributing information leaflets on behalf of the Foundation.
