Description
Able and New Women, (ANEW) is a support group for women with alcohol related problem. Women drink due to loneliness, isolation and low self-esteem. The ANEW programme attempts to identify the reasons why we drink and then to deal with the issues involved in a positive manner.
ANEW was launched in 2000 and has meetings countrywide. Our programme is based on ten positive Choices, challenging women to grow and lead healthy and fruitful lives without the use of alcohol. We are Able and New Women supporting each other in our recovery and in our goal for ANEW life.

Services
Women are encouraged to attend one meeting per week. There are a few very good reasons for this. Our programme is a programme for living, each of us is encouraged to replace our negative thoughts with positive ones and to make healthy choices on a daily basis. Also women can find it difficult due to family circumstances to attend more than one meeting per week.
Our meetings are a very safe venue for women to deal with the issues they encounter on a daily basis. Operated as a conversation in the round, women can share in a safe and friendly environment. Nobody gives advice, all we can do is share our own experiences on recovery.
