I feel that it would only serve to weaken the force of warnings on tobacco products. People would become immured to the whole idea of health warnings on products.

People in Irish society for the most part know what drink does to them&that is why they drink. We live in a here&now society where people dont care what adverse affects products will have on them but are just looking for the escapism it provides for however short a period that may be.I feel depression&inhappiness with oneself to be the main cause of over-drinking in Irelnad&it is these issues as to why we drink in the first place&now what happens that should be addressed.Tackle the problem before it starts is what I say.Prevention really is always much better than cure.

Irish people are aware that excessive drinking is harmful but I think it would come as a surprise to many all the dangers that are associated with alcohol. Health warnings should be made law. If some people want to ignore these, fine but if the warnings are not on the drinks, this means I can not make an informed decision as the manufacturers are withholding information about the product!

I do feel that we are bombarded by health warnings and as the saying goes too much of a good thing can be bad for you. People will not heed all the warnings also in some cases they are merely a quick fix, the problem of excessive alcohol use in Ireland is a very complex one for which more than one solution has to be applied.

No, I don't think it would make any difference. People know that to drink to excess can cause problems, but really the attitude is 'thats not going to happen to me'

What is the point in putting warnings on Alcohol containers. People have taken no notice of the warnings on cigarettes and they are being put down everywhere all the time. proper education would be a better way to spend the money. If people want to drin ()or smoke) they will do so regardless of the warnings.

IT MAY HELP FOR SOME PEOPLE, BUT AS RICHARD SAID ABOVE, YOU BECOME USED TO WARNINGS AND THE EFECT DECREASES.I DO BELIEVE AN AMOUNT OF 'HEAVY DRINKERS' LIVE WITH THE FALSE NOTION THAT 'IT WON'T HAPPEN TO THEM'.THEY SEEM TO HAVE THE ATTITUDE THAT 'SURE IF I GET SOME AILMENT FROM THE DRINK THEN I CAN STOP OR EASE OFF.' EDUCATION OF SOME SORT(NOT THE NAGGING NANNY STATE TYPE)IS REQUIRED.SHOCK ADVERTS NORMALLY JUST TURN ADDICTS OFF AND HARDEN THEIR RESOLVE. A REALISTIC APPROACH SHOWING LIFESTYLE ALTERNATIVES AND THE OVERALL BENIFITS OF HEALTHY LIVING MAY BE MORE USEFUL FOR SOME PEOPLE.

Think so because people now are health conscious, they check the rate of calories, alcahol content and so forth. So by puttting health warning it can ring a bell to some and make others talk about it.

Putting a label on stuff is the ONLY surefire way to fix things. And if that don't fix it, then PUT A BIGGER LABEL ON IT. So if you find yourself at the mercy of a thug high on dhrink, but low on money, SLAP A LABEL ON HIS FOREHEAD. Works every time.

If people need to read a warning on a bottle of whiskey to know that abuse is dangerous, then I think drinking is not their most serious problem...

Of course, Health Warnings on alcohol packaging of all types would help educate people to the real true dangers of alcohol abuse, and therefore combat excessive drinking.

No because most binge drinking happens no matter what happens. I don't drink but a lot of my freinds do and I think its a waste of money!

I would suspect that most drinking is done in pubs and in that case most drinkers would not even see the warning - not that it would have much effect on them anyway.

It never worked for cigarettes. Why would it work for drink
