Dr Kevin Kennelly was a helpful, outstanding doctor who helped me with my eyes. It's a shame that he has gone to another hospital, hope he comes back soon, legend of a doctor.

I never ever complain but after today I was so upset I had to tell/warn other patients of the treatment I received in this hospital. This is my second pregnancy, well fourth - I have had two miscarriages as well as the birth of my daughter who is 4. Because of my history of miscarriage I was told the next time I got pregnant to make an appointment with the Early Preg Unit. So I got my doctor to do so after she confirmed I was pregnant a month ago. So I was sent in to the booking in clinic which was the wrong clinic, mistake made by the hospital/doctor but not my fault. So I first spoke to the doctor, gave all my details etc...She knew I wasn't yet the 12 weeks but sent me for a scan to date and make sure it wasn't an ectopic pregnancy. All the midwifes and doctors I had spoken to up to the scan were so helpful and nice but the person who done my scan was so rude I actually cried. She told me I had no right to be there. it wasn't my time and not to be suprised if nothing was seen as I might only be 7 or 8 weeks. She kept giving out to me about being there so in the end my husband said it was not my fault. Every doctor, midwife and my own doctor knew I was not the 12 weeks and I was sent into her for a scan. She then said she was sorry for speaking to me in this manner, it's just a waste of her time and she was sick of seing people before they're more than 12 weeks. I was so upset what should have been one of the happiest time, seeing our baby and its tiny heart beating ended up being so upsetting. We where so nervous after the previous miscarriages and to be spoken to like that was a disgrace. 45 mins giving out to a patient when she should have been talking to us about our baby. I came out with no next scan date or anything, she sent me for bloods and told me to go home.

Long waiting lists, dreadful confusion over what you are there to be seen for, clinics changed or not held at all, and general lack of knowledge as to why you turned up (e.g. spend most of the appointment reading your notes and asking you questions you already answered three times with three different doctors, do not seem to keep records of ER visits or x-rays ordered, etc...) Basically, attitude seems to be "If pain goes away on its own, that's fine; don't ask us for an explanation why you had it in the first place, if it will come back, or is it a sign of anything more serious".

The doctor told me it was all in the mind, but six months later I was diagnosed with a real illness.

Private room wasn't just dirty, it was filthy. Shower had blood and hair from last patients. I had to clean old blood off floor before allowing my children into the room. I was left without any attention for hours with a newborn baby after having a C-section and was unable to breastfeed my baby unaided so I ended up bottle feeding. That was my 4th birth in this hospital and each time it was filthy and I would always bring disinfectant and cleaning products with me.

My daughter had a procedure here. Bed was broken. Nurse was very rude. Disregarded the child because she was 13 and in her opinion not a child. Had to ask for pain medication two hours after it was due and had the head taken off me by the nurse who had taken over the shift. Found the two nurses very rude and child unfriendly. One spent an half an hour with another nurse giving out that she hadn't had a lunch break the day before and giving out about holidays. Light was broken over the bed. Doctors were very good though, the only positive

Put us through hell. How much do they think they can put someone through while in labour and not let them have any pain meds?

Admitted via A&E through surgical team, moved to gynae team and although treated very well by lovely staff there there wwere terrible communication issues between doctors and nurses - 1.kept on a fast for almost 2 days for a procedure that never happened until I pleaded to be allowed to eat 2. was left sitting in the room after the final tests while the nurses assumed I was already discharged until they found me hours later 3. on discharge no-one discussed the final outcome of tests with me despite my request (at least that indicates nothing urgent or serious I hope). Instead I have to pay (again) to see their consultant (arranging my own appointment!)for the results and next steps.

Nine hrs spent in A&E after being sent by my GP as a medical emergency. The doctor who first saw me went HOME without finishing my care and it was only after complaining the second time that another doctor scanned me. He suggested I come back the next day as all the departments were now closed.....I had been sitting in the waiting room from 10.50am until almost 8pm!!! Never took blood and sent me home with not even a pain killer. A holy disgrace!! They should shut the whole hospital down.

My uncle was admitted following a fall in which he sustained a fracture. He never left Waterford Regional, as he sadly died a short time later following surgery. My complaint concerns one of the nursing staff on his ward. When I phoned to enquire about his condition she told me at first about her problems such as the ward being short staffed, then she mentioned other operational shortcomings until I informed her, that, as a nurse myself I found her complaining on the phone to be unprofessional and she quickly changed her tune. She eventually gave me a curt reply as to the condition of my uncle. If staff behave unprofessionally like this and take out their frustrations with the person on the phone - I would be concerned about their standard of patient care in the ward.

I still have not received my rescheduled appointment that was canceled by the hospital on the 24/8/2012. For 1.5 weeks no one answered the phone, the week following that the secretary went on holidays for a week. When I finally got through, she said the appointment was not scheduled and she could not tell me when. When I asked about 2.5 weeks of not getting an answer, she got defensive and kept saying she was entitled to annual leave. I have no problem with holidays but why could I not get an answer for 1.5 weeks prior to this. The reply was she could not answer every call and must have missed mine, even though I called every day multiple times. Patient services have also not gotten back to me after speaking to them in mid-September. They said the cancellation may have been down to over booking and I may be classed as low priority. How can someone class a patient as low priority when they have not diagnosed them and not seen them since May. I was not rude and just wanted an explanation as to why my appointment was canceled, why the phone was ringing out for 1.5 weeks and that the previous days appointments were also canceled.

Although all the staff, doctors & nurses and care givers were excellent, I felt that the cleaning staff could have done better. It reminded me of my teenage daughter, such a half effort in their cleaning was unbelievable.

My husband was referred by caredoc for an X-Ray to rule out any fracture of his knee. Arrived in A&E at 19.45, checked in at reception, was seen by Triage nurse shortly after for approx 2 mins & was told to wait until a dr saw him. The purpose of a triage nurse is to assess pts, surely this includes sending them for xrays when it is obvious that's what is needed. Instead we sat for 4 hrs waitin g to be seen by a dr who immediately sent my husband for his xray & then had to wait for half an hour before being seen again. The triage system in WRH is a total waste of time & resources, both for pts & staff.

The hospital does not deserve all the comments it gets deriding it. I felt cared for by the best staff and doctors. The hygiene was excellent and I could not fault a thing.

Got a letter in July to say my appointment was due 31st august with another doctor. Had been in on the 15th May and was told my 2nd appointment was due in 3 months. Today I got a letter to say my appointment has been canceled due to unforeseen circumstances. This was sent out on Friday. The letter is not signed, no contact numbers listed and just saying they will get back to me, I have tried contacting the clinic and no one is answering. As it is I have been waiting over 3 months and a letter like this is completely unprofessional, unacceptable and I am dreading how long I will have to wait to be seen.

My son was born over 2 weeks early and Christmas week. I was meant to be going home Christmas Eve but ended up going home Christmas Day instead and that meant I had no formula for him as I had intended picking it up on my way home. But the nurses on duty were great - they gave me more than enough bottles to last me through until the shops opened. I couldn't thank them enough :)

Uncaring rude unhelpful. Nurses did not treat patients with any respect. Constantly fobbing off any requests for help. No information given if asked they are so abrupt and rude. If patient did not eat food the tray was taken and no-one observed if the patient has eaten or not! No level of care and if family was'nt there well I dont know what would happen.
