HE WAS SO UNDERSTANDING, EXPLAINED EXACTLY WHAT WAS HAPPENING AND I WILL NEVER FORGET HOW GOOD HE WAS TO ME. AN OUTSTANDING DOCTOR. IF I HAD A GOLD MEDAL I WOULD GIVE IT TO HIM.

I had my baby in Lukes on 23rd May 11. I had two midwives looking after me through my labour. The first midwife went off duty pretty soon after I arrived however the second midwife was named Margaret. She was very knowledgeable, caring and had a very calming influence on both me and my partner. She was very empathic with my pain and did all in her power to make the experience comfortable. I cannot thank her enough.

Labour ward staff, especially midwife Elizabeth Lacey, who was just an amazing midwife. This is my 3rd baby but this midwife has a special skill which can't quite be explained but is fantastic when put into practice. All the midwives were under a lot of pressure and short staffed but all managed to push themselves that extra mile for us patients.

I had my baby in the summer of 2010. I was brought in to be induced on the Wednesday but when I arrived, I was examined and sent home again as there were too many women delivering that day. I was eight days overdue. I arrived back in two days later and was induced. At first I was assessed by a midwife, Margaret, who was lovely and put me at ease and encouraged me to do what I wanted to do - use the tens machine, walk and bounce on the ball. Later on, as my labour progressed I was handed over to a lovely midwife called Grace Cahill - she was amazing and totally encouraged me throughout. So patient and answered all my questions again and again - however had so much knowledge and knew when things were not going right - she knew when to call the doctor. She examined me and it turned out baby was not coming out right. The doctor came and confirmed but it was Grace that did all the explaining to me about what would happen. An emergency c-section later with a baby girl. Grace did not accompany me to theatre but the care she gave was unbelievable and made my labour of seven hours with gas and air bearable. Grace came in to the ward to visit me while I was still there which I thought was so nice of her as I was just one of many that passed through the doors. She is an amazing person and is so good at her job. Pity some of the doctors did not lead from her example.
