Waterford Hospital gets top HSE marks

Waterford Regional Hospital has become the first hospital to be awarded top marks under the HSE's hospital ratings system.

The HSE rates hospitals using a "traffic light" system for performance under a number of headings - red for unsatisfactory performance, amber for an average performance, and green for a very good performance.

Performance is measured under headings such as waiting times for operations and outpatient appointments, staff absenteeism and average length of patient stay.

The first green light since the rating system began last year has been awarded to Waterford Regional Hospital.

(If you or a relative have recently experienced a hospital stay and would like to rate the hospital, visit irishhealth.com's Rate My Hospital website, the only facility where service users can rate hospitals)
