Drumm controversy continues
The political fallout from the Brendan Drumm bonus controversy is continuing, with two Government Ministers now stating it is a matter for Prof Drumm whether or not to accept his €70,000 performance award.
Education Minister Batt O'Keeffe said yesterday that it was a moral call for the HSE CEO whether to accept the bonus, although he was legally entitled to the money.
Environment Minister John Gormley said the acceptance or otherwise of the bonus was a matter for Prof Drumm.
Health Minister Mary Harney has continued to stress that the payment or otherwise of bonus did not come under her direct remit
She said the bonus was a matter for the HSE board, and bonuses were not exclusive to the management of the HSE.
The Health Miniser said bonuses across the public sector had since been appropriately suspended.
