Acquired brain injury awareness

A new campaign aimed at raising awareness of the need to wear headgear to prevent brain injury will be launched next week.

The Peter Bradley Foundation's 'Mind Your Head' campaign will highlight the need to wear protective headgear in everyday situations such as cycling, working or playing sports.

Acquired Brain Injury (ABI) is regarded as a silent epidemic which affects more than 10,000 people in Ireland each year.

The Foundation says its victims are often left without vital support services that would ensure sufferers could continue to live independent lives.

Established in 2000, the Peter Bradley Foundation was set up to provide a range of pioineering, flexible and tailor-made services to people with ABI. It is named after Peter Bradley, who suffered an ABI after a motor accident.
