Freephone info for eczema sufferers

[Posted: Wed 13/09/2000]

Eczema sufferers will be given direct access to dermatologists, nurses, counsellors and complementary healthcare practitioners through a freephone information line during this year's Eczema Awareness Week.

People with eczema or their parents will be able to discuss how best to manage their condition on the information line, Freephone 1800 923132, which will be open from 10am to 4pm on Sunday, September 24.

Eczema Awareness Week, which runs from September 23-30, will focus this year on informing people with eczema about the best ways to control their condition in the long term. Information packs have been distributed to doctors, pharmacists and hospitals to highlight the fact that eczema can be a lifelong condition.

The awareness campaign will also feature interviews with skincare specialist, Dr Bruce Mitchell, about various aspects of eczema. The interviews will run daily on local radio stations, including 98FM in Dublin, 96FM and 103FM in Cork, 95FM in Limerick, Galway Bay FM and WLRFM in Waterford.

The Eczema Awareness Week this year is sponsored by Boots Healthcare.
