Heloo from across the big blue sea. As a former heavy cannabis smoker I must say I can agree with most everyone's posts on this board.

No - there is no link between cancer and cannabis (thank God)

Yes - smoking cannabis makes you a bit of slow minded bubble head

No - Cannabis does not make you a spaced out video game players.

Yes - Cannabis does control you. In fact it puts a noose around your family stones and leads you where it wants to go.

No - It does not make you permamently feeble minded. For instance I built a business authoring and selling marketing ebooks while stoned off my ghourd.

In reality what made me quit smoking was the fact I noticed how much power my dealer had over me. If he went on vacation I freaked. If he ran out of supply I freaked. If he didnt return my calls I freaked. If...

As a father of 6 children I simply could not let them see me bowing to anyone other than my true God.

fifi i think we need to agree to disagree on this one. i love my smoke, have smoked for years, work in a very good job which requires a lot of thinking. have successfully completed a lot of courses either internally in my org or in college where i did a diploma a few years ago and have just finished my degree. it hasn't caused problems for me though i admit i stop it when exams are approaching. i've agreed with a lot of your posts but don't think this is one we'll ever agree on.

Still sticking to my guns you guys. Hash, pot whatever little name you like to put on it is banned for a reason. IF it does become available on prescription because it helps the sick.. well and good. Otherwise, keep it off the streets the same as any other drug out there.

Abuse of any substance has its down sides.... That includes food. Overweight people are killing themselves too so should they make food illegal? Or maybe ration it? Now theres an idea.

Dont abuse it and It will be fine.

Yea I'd rather drink a pint of orange juice rather than go around drunk out of my mind all day.

Yes Fifi, I'm with Prafter on this one AND the 52% of people who voted 'yes' in the poll 'should cannabis use be legalised in Ireland', (the no note was 37% which you were probably one of). Fair enough, you smoked it and didn't like it. Why don't you just leave it at that instead of coming on here giving people stick who simply enjoy a toke to relax. I don't drink so if I want to smoke I will.

ANON.. oh I love the way these people stay ANON..no doubt your are playing on Prafters side. Its easy to spot a hash head. Any self respecting individual will disagree with you both.

Kevin it depends on what they are smoking. If they are smoking hash in their joints then yes they do need tobacco and you are right that this is not be beneficial and can be more detrimental to health. However, if they are smoking weed then the joint can be built without tobacco.

Fifi I think most are probably fed up with your argumentative posts just because something doesn\'t suit you.

Prafter Im fed up with you glorifying that drug. IF it has medical benefits then let it only be allowed to those who really need it through prescription in a controlled manner & not allow every Tom Dick & Harry who wants to get stoned to use it at will. Thank you too sir

Most people I know use tobacco in their joints. Two drugs rolled into one. How can cannibas possibly be beneficial then?

Fifi, someone who in an earlier post admits to drinking eight or nine whiskies, four or five nights per week, berating people for their use of a practically harmless drug makes me sick to my stomach.
That mind-boggling level of hypocricy is very, rare, thankfully. Take a bow!
Thank you.

I've been a regular toker for the past 10 years. I have given it up with no problems when I wanted to. I work in a Financial Institution and it hasn't affected me there. I have successfully also completed a diploma and did my finals of a degree this year. It has caused me no problems. And someone mentioned impotence???? Some of the best sex I've had is after a few tokes so I don't believe that. Fifi, you can smoke a pipe or a bong without tobacco.

May I ask what you use in your joints if not tobacco. Enlighten me. Also.. lets remember thats its not only the tobacco that carries thousands of dangerous chemicals it is also the papers used in your joints and rollies too. have you thought about that? Id rather smoke a normal cig than go around zombified any day. What a sad mad report that was.

Anon, that old "reefer madness" rubbish is long dead. You're out of touch. Cannabis is the very opposite of what you say it is.
Thank you.

Myself and P(PRafter) have entered this arena together before! Cannabis might not be physically addictive, but it most certainly is psychologically addictive. And, as anon 20:10 said, it can precipitate schizophrenia. I just personally do not enjoy being around people smoking cannabis because in my experience, they too often become bad company. This isn't one or two joints I'm talking about, it's when a bit of a session gets going. However, I don't think it deservers to be illegal, and I know it doesn't cause the problems alcohol cause - not by a long shot. Like any mind altering substance, it needs to be enjoyed with a bit of common sense.

Cannabis abuse DOES have harmful side effects, like impaired memory function and impotence, to give two examples. But just like alcohol, if you can enjoy the odd 'drink' or the odd 'joint', then that's not a big deal. Even for some people, moderate daily use isn't a big deal. It's when you find that when you don't have it you get tetchy and restless that you need to take stock. Personally, I LOVE no longer altering the state of my mind, and find it liberating to be able to totally relax all by my very self, in company, or alone. Mostly I notice it takes people a couple of glasses of wine, or whatever, to be as relaxed as I am to begin with. When I leave the social occasion to go home is when people begin to repeat themselves, usually around midnight or one in the morning (drink) or when people are trouncing the one subject to death while making little sense(cannabis).

I can't believe that anyone thinks cannabis is not addictive and that it does not, at the very lower end of the scale, lead to brain shrinkage, proven, read the literature. Cannabis also precipitates schizophrenia in susceptible person and is a very serious cause of psychosis. Get real people!

Kevin, if you knew anything at all about cannabis you wouldn't have posted that "comment" at the top of the page.
Thank you.

Aarren, It sounds as though you know nothing about the drug either. That's a typical 'spacers' answer that you gave to my post.

I believe my cannabis smoking protects me from the effects of my tobacco smoking. I don't use tobacco in joints, though; can't be too careful. All the stupid f**king lies told about cannabis over the last seventy years are finally being laid bare for all to see. Cannabis is being shown to be the very opposite of what the prohibitionists tried to make people believe it was. I should say I stopped believing the lies within a fortnight of having my first real toke in '72. I didn't think then it'd be still illegal in 2006. Thank you.

Well, except for the fact that it's already been proven that Marijuana is not physically addictive. Unlike Nicotine and Alcohol.

As I read the research marijuanna long term marijuana use has a 0% chance of tobacco related studies. An israeli pharmacutical company has been using raw THC ectracts to eradicate brain tumors. it's a fantastic drug. i have used it since 1969. I Highly recomend it for the proper uses

RE: Kevin

1. Nowhere in the study (nor in the article) is it suggested that anyone "must switch over now to marijuana".

2. Marijuana is not addictive.

3. It would seem by your post's nonexistent cogency and its absence of a single sapient point that you're "spaced out of your mind" as it is, THC-or-lack-thereof notwithstanding.

Oh, great, we must all switch over now to marijuana and become addicted to something else. Once it doesn't cause lung cancer we're alright. And I can go around spaced out of my mind and everything will be alright.
