I don't think the smear test work properly, ive been having my smears done every 3 yrs. In March i started to have really heavy bleeding which didn't stop at all and went on non stop bleeding for two mths. I went to my doctors and had many test done but all came back normal. So i had an early smear test done. One mth later my results came back. I was shocked to find out i had CIN3.My doctor rang me up on the Friday and i was in hospital by Monday. Ive had my colposcopy done and now waiting on my results to come back which are taking for ever, its been 5 weeks now and still no news. Have anyone got any idea how long these take. I think this is the nightmare time waiting if all is ok.

I was attending my Gp for over a year with problems with bleeding etc. Smear came back negative however 8 months later it was discovered i had a large tumour of the cervix that had spread slighty. Although Dr's are definate it was their a while if it had been diagnosed earlier treatment would'nt have been as severe. I would still advise friends to go have a smear test but if worried to go back again

I had unsuccessful smear tests for about 3 years until something was finally done about it. I was diagnosed with Cin 2 i think which means i had precancerous cells. I went through an uncomfortable procedure to remove them in hospital. But if it weren't for the smear tests which without i'm sure in a few years time i would have gone on to get cervical cancer. If you catch the cells early enough its cureable and nothing to worry about. I had follow up smears done afterwards now i only have to go every 3 years and am in the all clear now. I really hope the vaccine is successful but nowadays every woman should be educated to get these examinations done early on before the vaccine is needed!
