Merely a reflection of the state of the health services. Why was her hospital in Limerick unable to test their own cytology. A mess made by the HSE. Obstructing services by embargos and not replacing staff.

People makes mistakes! That's why pencil's have erasers.

BUT mistakes should NOT happen in the medical profession, where results could prove fatal or detrimental to health. I work in finance, anything I do is checked by at least one other person, and similarly I check others work before the work is authorised. A second review of medical test results by another person is what is needed here and Im very surprised is not already part of normal procedures. I feel for that poor woman and wish her all the best and sincerely hope that the hospital authorities (or HSE) make it compulsory for test results to be double checked by another qualified person.

An absolute disgrace - no other word for it.
