I have been told that my sporadic facial pain around the ear area may be trigemminal neuralgia but the pain medicaqtion is very severe and causes many complications and doesn't usually relieve the pain. I have noticed lately that this pain seems to occur when I have swollen glands and thought there may be a link... Has anyone had similar problems - Is there anything that can be done to prevent this severe pain..

Have you tried a TENs machine. Not sure if this will work for the facial area but it may be worth checking out. Is there maybe something your doctor could perscribe that's safe to take now that you are in the last trimester.

I was diagnosed with this condition approx 16 months ago- treated with neurontin and the pain disappeared. However I'm now pregnant, due in August and the pain has come back again. I can't take drugs to control the pain and was wondering if anyone knew of any "natural" pain control measures?

It's very important to get a proper diagosis. It's can be very difficult to get a proper diagnosis. (It was for me) It could be caused by Jaw pain - TMJ, which can be caused or aggravated by stress, teeth grinding and jaw clenching. My treatment was non-invasive, and sucessful. Thanks E.M. Don't rush into operations and strong medication unless they are sure what you are suffering from.

Have you thought of investigating Bell's Palsy. I don't know much about it but it sounds a bit similar

I get a bad dose of pins and needles / numbness on the right and left hand sides of my face. It normally happens when I'm exhausted. It lasts for about 3/4 days.

I've looked on this site for a similar case, but can't find anything - After looking at this topic, I thought that this came closest. Have you heard about this before?

A friend of mine had this and ther is an opartion which can be done. It's quite severe but it cures the problem. However there is a risk of facial nerve damage

My friend has just been diagnosed with Trigeninal Neuralgia and would very much like some help. She has used the two top drugs prescribed for this but has had an allergic reaction to both. She realises there is no cure but would be very grateful for some guidance on how to control the pain. Many thanks for any help.
