Sirs,

Should it not be a priority of the government/legislators to consider the 'role' richly paid lawyers play in the theatre of the health-service?
It surely is common knowledge now....that there are at least three possible losers in medical litigation....the doctor/professional involved....their insurance company...and the unfortunate patient/relatives!
The one...crystal clear... winner in any unfortunate (or indeed criminal) circumstance...is a member of the law society.....THEY CANNOT LOSE...since they demand such huge fees !
If any one knows a solicitor/barrister/judge living in a hovel or run-down area (which would indicate some small effort in pro-bono work)...please let it be known to the rest of us cynics!
The legislature has the power...in law... to enact change.....I, being a cynic, believe there are sinister motives that 'prevent' any pro-bono change....but let's ask the voters.....WHY DO THEY REFUSE TO DO SO? WOULDN'T IT BENEFIT THE PATIENT IN THE LONG TERM?
