Can I have a baby?
In most cases, there is no reason why you cannot become pregnant despite your Crohn’s disease. It is a good idea to talk to your doctor if you want to conceive and ask for advice. Many women find that their symptoms become much better when they are pregnant and that they go into remission. It is rare for symptoms to get worse during pregnancy, but you can take some drugs during your pregnancy to control symptoms. Some drugs should not be taken during pregnancy and your doctor will give you specific advice on this and manage your medications accordingly. There is no reason that you will not have a healthy baby and a normal delivery. Most babies born to a parent with Crohn’s disease will not have the condition at all. If you have any concerns about this again talk to your doctor who will be able to allay your fears.
