Ninety-three per cent of Parkinson's Disease patients think it is a disruptive condition, rating it above heart disease, anxiety, arthritis, diabetes and asthma.

The research has also revealed that 42% of Parkinson's patients think there is social stigma attached to the condition.

In Ireland, it is estimated that 6,000 adults suffer from Parkinson's disease.

The research was published to mark the launch of a new exercise chart to help improve the flexibility and mobility of patients with Parkinson's disease.

The chart has been launched as a joint initiative between Lundbeck Ireland and the Parkinson's Association of Ireland.

The exercise chart is available free by calling the Parkinson's Association at freephone 1800 359 359.
