CMH to cease new admissions

The Central Mental Hospital (CMH) in Dundrum, Dublin has said it will have to stop admitting new patients due to staff shortages.

The hospital says it has 25 nursing vacancies which it cannot fill as a result of the public sector recruitment embargo.

It says therefore, it will stop admitting new patients from June 15.

The CNH had looked for an exemption from the recruitment ban in order to employ the extra nurses, but it was unsuccessful.
