Sometimes preventers or relievers may not be doing enough to control your asthma. When this happens, your doctor will assess the situation and may prescribe additional medicine. This is known as ‘add-on’ therapy. The aim is to give you the best possible control of your asthma.
Long acting Beta 2 agonists
These bronchodilator medicines cause the airways to relax and widen. They include salmeterol and formoterol, which last for about 12 hours. Therefore, twice daily dosage will keep the airways constantly open.
