Haemorrhoids

My husband has noticed some bleeding when going to the toilet and is quiet worried about this. He has suffered on one occasion from haemorrhoids but he doesn't think that this is the cause, because he is not suffering with them at the time. If it is not haemorrhoids what else could it be?

I donít think it is appropriate for me to speculate about the range of possible causes of your husbandís bleeding. He really should visit his doctor in order to be assessed. The fact that he doesnít have other symptoms of haemorrhoids does not exclude that possibility. His doctor will perform a rectal examination and may even have a small proctoscope, which will enable him to look inside and identify the source of bleeding. Based on his previous history haemorrhoids are still the most likely diagnosis.
