Discharge during pregnancy

I am 30 weeks pregnant and yesterday I had some coloured discharge. This has happened before and my doctor told me not to worry if it happens again. However I am concerned, although my baby is still moving as normal. Can you please advise me?

Vaginal discharge during pregnancy is very common. The cells in the cervix, which is the neck of the womb, secrete mucous and the higher oestrogen level in your body during pregnancy stimulates these cells to produce even more mucous. You become aware of this extra mucous in the form of a vaginal discharge. Once your baby is born your oestrogen level will revert to normal and the mucous production will decline. The discharge does not constitute any risk to your baby.
