Polyarteritis

Can somebody please tell me if cutaneous polyarteritis is the same thing as polyarteritis nodosa?

Cutaneous polyarteritis is a mild form of polyarteritis nodosa. In the case of the former condition the pathology is solely confined to the skin. If we split up the term polyarteritis, “poly” means many and “arteritis” means inflammation of an artery. Therefore polyarteritis means inflammation of several arteries. Polyarteritis nodosa is an unfortunately severe disease where arteries in multiple body systems are affected. The signs and symptoms depend on which systems in the body are affected. Therefore the predominant effects could be in the kidneys, heart, gut or brain. It can be a very debilitating condition.
