Morning sickness

How soon into a pregnancy can you expect to experience morning sickness?

Morning sickness can be experienced as early as 10 days after fertilisation. This means that a woman could experience nausea and vomiting before she is even aware that she is pregnant. The hormones HCG (human chorionic gonadotrophin) and oestrogen can both cause morning sickness. HCG is only present in the body during pregnancy and it is excreted from the body in the urine. Detection of HCG in the urine is the basis for most pregnancy tests in popular usage.
