Bed wetting and alcohol
Nocturnal enuresis in young male adults. Can this be due to a large intake of alcohol?
Nocturnal enuresis or bedwetting can be due to a large intake of alcohol. Alcohol has a diuretic effect. In other words it makes you void more urine. If a person drinks a large amount of alcohol at night they continue to make increased amounts of urine during their sleep even though they may have voided a substantial volume of urine before going to bed. They may also sleep very heavily because of the sedative effect of the alcohol and they may not feel the sensation of their bladder being over full. Once the bladder expands beyond a particular capacity it empties automatically resulting in wetting the bed.
