H. pylori - recovery time?

What is the recovery time after treating helicobacter pylori infection?

When a person has undergone treatment for helicobacter pylori infection it is customary to retest the person one month after treatment. Nowadays this is usually assessed by means of a breath test. The treatment must have been completed at least 28 days before this test is performed. It is also important for the person to be off all antibiotics for any other complaints at least seven days before the test. It would be expected that in the case of successful treatment the symptoms and underlying infection would have been fully eradicated within the month. In many cases the symptoms would have resolved even earlier and might have even abated before the week long course of therapy was completed.
