Mirena coil - pessaries safe?
I suffer regularly from thrush and the usual treatment is antifungal pessaries. However, I recently had the Mirena coil inserted and wonder if it’s safe to use the pessaries with this in place?
Antifungal pessaries are not contraindicated in women who have had a Mirena coil inserted. The coil is securely lodged within the uterus and cannot be dislodged through the insertion of a vaginal pessary. Also the medication contained within the pessary does not adversely interact with the hormone released from the coil.
