Cold sores

I have recurring cold sores coming back in the same spot every time I have a session of drink or when I am stressed out. Is this dangerous?

Cold sores are due to infection with the herpes simplex virus. Your chemist can advise you about appropriate creams that can be used to treat this infection. Herpes simplex can remain dormant in the body even though it has been successfully treated with an antiviral cream. The virus can then flare up again under the type of circumstances you describe and produce further cold sores. It is important to apply the treatment at the earliest sign that the infection is flaring up. It is also important to follow the directions for application to the letter. In my experience many people do not apply the treatment as often as is recommended. Herpes simplex is not a dangerous virus but it can be an uncomfortable nuisance.
