Emergency contraception - too late?

I had unprotected sex a week ago and took the morning after pill the day after. I had my period then for 4 days. The day my period finished I had sex with my boyfriend again and the condom spilt. I am terrified that I may have got caught. What can I do?

By my calculation it is now two days since you had sex with your boyfriend, which means that emergency contraception is till an option for you. You could use the morning after pill again because such emergency contraception can be used within 72 hours of unprotected intercourse. The fact that you used emergency contraception a week ago does not preclude its use again. As an alternative you could have an IUCD (intrauterine contraceptive device) inserted up to 5 days after unprotected intercourse. Your GP might be able to fit the coil for you if he or she is skilled in the insertion of IUCDs. If your GP is unable to perform this procedure for you you could attend a family planning clinic instead.
