Flu jab - too late for it?

I have been getting the flu jab every year with no ill effects. This year I had surgery in November and did not go for the flu injection. Is it too late now, or is it wise to go and have it at this stage. I am nervous of not having had it.

It is still possible to have the flu jab and it is perfectly safe for you to have it. It is generally recommended that the vaccine be administered in late September or early October so that your immune system will have mounted a sufficient antibody response by the time that flu arrives in Ireland, which tends to occur over Christmas or early in the New Year. Even though you missed that particular deadline the vaccine would still provide you with some protection if administered now. I would therefore recommend that you see your GP when normal services resume after the Christmas holidays.
