A friend of mine has a sore on his leg, which is not improving. He also has total paralysis below his waist. He was told that a skin graft was an option. Is this going to do him more harm than good?
I cannot see how a skin graft would do more harm than good. This may well be the treatment of choice for your friend. You do not say if your friend also lacks sensation below the waist but I would assume that this is the case. This creates an additional difficulty for him since he lacks the sensory cues that are available to the rest of us that could alert one to the possibility that the lesion is extending or deepening. In other words he lacks the necessary sensory information that would inform him if the lesion is getting better or worse.
