How long does hepatitis A last?

The incubation period for hepatitis A can last from 2 to 6 weeks, which means that the virus is present in an infected personís system for 2 to 6 weeks before the first symptoms appear. In the case of hepatitis B the incubation period can last from 4 to 20 weeks and in the case of hepatitis C the incubation period can last from 2 to 26 weeks. It is possible to be infected with hepatitis A and have no symptoms. It is also possible to be infected with the virus and not even be jaundiced. Most people with hepatitis A recover fully from the infection within weeks or at most a couple of months. It is unusual to suffer long-term complications as a result of hepatitis A.
