Travel vaccination - when to do?

When should you receive vaccines for going away? I am particularly interested in hepatitis A, typhoid and diphtheria.

It is generally recommended that your vaccinations be completed about a month before you depart. This allows sufficient time for your body to mount a sufficient immune response and also ensures that you are not departing on holidays immediately after the vaccination. You could theoretically be vaccinated on the day of departure but this might not be a good idea particularly if you had a minor side effect such as a transient flu-like state or a sore arm. It is probably more sensible to receive the vaccinations several weeks before departure. In that regard a minimum of a month is sufficient.
