The pill - pill free interval?

I have been on the contraceptive pill for a few months now. I am wondering is there a risk of becoming pregnant during the seven tablet free days? Should I be using a condom during those days?

Assuming that you have taken the full course of 21 tablets without any omissions then there is no need to use additional precautions during the pill free interval. However, it is essential that you resume taking the first tablet of your next pack once the seven-day interval has elapsed. Failure to resume the course of pills after the seven days could result in breakthrough ovulation. Once you take your pill as directed and have not experienced episodes of vomiting or have not been on a treatment that could interact with the pill then you need not worry about pregnancy risk during the pill free interval.
