Pacemaker - antibiotics safe?

I have a pacemaker and have been prescribed clonamox for a chest infection. Is this medication safe for me to take? I am also on 6 mg of warfarin per day.

There is no risk whatsoever in taking antibiotics such as clonamox with a pacemaker in situ. However, antibiotics can interact with warfarin but the impact is minimal. Clotting times may be marginally altered during the course of the antibiotic treatment but this effect disappears once the antibiotic is finished. For example if you had your INR (special blood test for monitoring warfarin levels) performed while on an antibiotic you might find the result to be slightly different to your usual result however, the figure would still be within the acceptable range. In other words the impact is very marginal and is not a cause of concern.
