Dietary fibre - how much?
How much fibre in the diet is recommended for an adult on a daily basis?
It is recommended that an adult should eat between 20 to 35 grams of fibre per day. Most people eat less than half that amount. However, speaking in terms of grams is probably not of much practical benefit since we rarely measure out our daily diet on weighing scales. A more practical measure would be to eat more cereal, rice, bread and pasta and try to ensure that you eat at least two servings of fruit per day and at least three servings of vegetables. Such a diet would certainly ensure that you would get sufficient fibre in the diet each day.
