Pollen allergy

My son comes out in hives after he has been playing in certain types of grass. Also his asthma is triggered as well. Is there any treatment for this type of pollen allergy?

There are a number of non-sedating antihistamine preparations available that would be helpful in relieving the itch and irritation due to urticaria or hives, as it is more commonly known. With regard to the child’s asthma there are several inhalers available that help to prevent the onset of an asthmatic attack. Some contain compounds known as “mast cell stabilisers” and others contain minute amounts of steroids. Both sets of inhalers stop the chain reaction of inflammation that occurs within the lungs that ultimately results in an asthmatic attack. These inhalers are used when the child is well in order to prevent the onset of an attack.
