Vaginal irritation - condom allergy?

I developed the symptoms of thrush following intercourse with my partner. He was wearing a condom. Can I therefore assume he is unaffected? Could the condom in anyway have caused the thrush?

I wonder if you do have thrush. It is possible that you have developed sensitivity to the latex in the condom or possibly sensitivity to the lubricant that coats the surface of the condom. Such allergic reactions are not uncommon. Condom manufacturers do produce a special range of condoms that are non-allergenic. If on the other hand you do have thrush condoms do provide a high degree of protection but that protection is not guaranteed to be 100% effective. If there was any genital contact during the act of intercourse prior to putting on the condom then it might be best for your partner to be treated for thrush as well.
