Medical Q&As

How long on average does it take for physical symptoms to show up for Hepatitis A, B or C after exposure to risk? What exactly does the 'incubation period' mean? Is this when symptoms start to show?

The term incubation period refers to the interval of time that passes between the entry of the virus into the body and the development of physical symptoms. The person may actually be infectious during this phase even though they are unaware that they have the infection. Hepatitis A has an incubation period of approximately 2 to 4 weeks. The incubation period for the other two can be anywhere from 1 to 6 months.
