Modern pregnancy tests are very reliable. It would appear that you are pregnant. It is not unusual for a first pregnancy test to be negative. The reason for this is that the test is based on the detection of HCG in the urine. This hormone is excreted in the urine of pregnant women and the first sample you passed may not have contained sufficient amounts of HCG to give a positive result.
