Scheuermanns disease

can you give me any information on scheuermanns disease

Scheuermanns disease is a disturbance in the development of the adolescent spine. The cartilage and vertebrae are affected, usually in the thoracic or chest part of the spine. The process lasts approximately two years and usually commences between the ages of 13 to 16 years. Most cases are mild and resolve spontaneously. A small minority of cases can be more severely affected resulting in spinal curvature. The more severely affected cases will require orthopaedic assessment.
