Hospital opens 'Big Mac' funded suite
[Posted: Thu 26/04/2001 www.irishhealth.com]
In an unusual development, a fast-food chain has funded a hospital suite in an Irish hospital.
The 'Ronald McDonald family rooms' have just opened at Musgrave Park Hospital in Belfast amid controversy over the suitability of fast food multinationals sponsoring healthcare facilities.
The £440,000 facility, which will allow parents to stay overnight with their sick children, contains four bedrooms, a kitchen, a sitting room and a laundry service. Funding was provided by the Ronald McDonald Children's Charities Trust, a charitable arm of the well-known fast food chain.
