HSE €300 million in red
[Posted: Thu 02/08/2012 www.irishhealth.com]
The HSE's deficit is now just under €300 million, according to latest figures.
The health executive's performance report for the end of June shows that the HSE was in the red to the tune of €298.7 million.
Hospital services are €151 million in the red while the medical card scheme is €92 million over budget, according to the figures.
The HSE report says service expenditure across the community and hospital sectors has stabilised but it still at too high a level and the reductions required to reach set budget targets are not being achieved.
