Public's view sought on eHealth
[Posted: Tue 13/12/2011 www.irishhealth.com]
The health safety and quality body HIQA is seeking the public's views on the future development of eHealth in Ireland.
eHealth refers to healthcare services being delivered through, or improved by, the use of the internet or other online and mobile technologies, such as smartphones.
This includes developments sich as electronic prescribing and the sending of test and other information on patients electronically. Ireland has lagged far behind in the implementation and adoption of electronic health, with initiatives such as the proposed national health information portal announced and then shelved several years ago.
A consultation document and feedback form are available to download from www.hiqa.ie or from Facebook or Twitter by searching ‘HIQA'.
The deadline for submissions is January 27, 2012.
