2,600 got jabs at clinics
[Posted: Tue 03/11/2009]
The HSE this evening said up to this afternoon 2,656 people had received the swine flu vaccine in the HSE vaccination clinics around the country today.
Many of the 45 clinics were very busy today but staff reported the throughput as 'manageable'.
A total of 890 people were vaccinated in the 7 clinics in Dublin North East. The eight clinics in Dublin Mid-Leinster were also busy, seeing 590 people up to 1pm today. In the South 659 were vaccinated while in the West 517 were vaccinated up to lunchtime today.
Many more people have been vaccinated in GP surgeries but the numbers involved are not yet available.
At least 1,600 people were vaccinated at the HSE clinics yesterday.
So far, eight mild adverse reactions have been reported to the vaccine.
The HSE said that it was making every effort to deliver the pandemic vaccine to all GPs who are participating in the pandemic vaccination programme.
The HSE confirmed that a small number of GPs have yet to receive their vaccine but it stressed that additional cold-chain vehicles had been drafted in to assist in the delivery of the vaccines and that every effort was being made to ensure GPs receive vaccine in a planned and sustained way over the coming weeks.
