Fifth death here from swine flu

Ther has been one further death from swine flu, bringing the total in Ireland to date to five.

The Department of Health has reported that an adult male from the east of the country passed away yesterday, and the patient had an underlying medical condition.

The swine flu vaccine started arriving in GPs’ surgeries today.

According to the HSE, all GPs who have agreed to administer the vaccine may not receive full supplies of it for two weeks. The vaccination campaign officially begins on November 2.

At least 1,800 GPs have agreed to administer the vaccine, according to the authorities.

Initially, high-risk patients including pregnant women and people with chronic illness aged between six months and 65 years will be vaccinated.

The IMO claimed today that some GPs who had not yet signed up for the vaccination scheme were getting supplies of the vaccine from the HSE. The IMO also says some legal indemnity issues for GPs administering the vaccine have yet to be clarified.

Meanwhile, a 14-year-old girl from Derry has become the fifth person in Northern Ireland to die from swine flu. It has been reported that the girl, Orla O’Kane, had cerebral palsy. 

A further two people from Northern Ireland have died from swine flu, one in the UK and one in Spain.

I've just phoned my doctoer in Malahide and he has not signed up for the vaccine.  The HSE have just told me that there'll be mass vaccination clinics set up shortly!!!  In the name of God what is going on with the health service in this country??

hi i was told that people with chronic illness gets the vacannine first, ok i undersand that, but what about us, r we to bloody wait to get the swine flu, my husband is intitled to have it doen as he has heart diease, but he said no, my  kids and my wife are to get it done too, he said if he was to get vaccanine and anything happened to us, what would he do, the bleeding system sucks,
