People not being sun-smart - survey

[Posted: Mon 09/06/2008 www.irishhealth.com]

Irish People are not protecting themselves from the harmful effects of the sun as much as they should, according to irishhealth.com's latest viewers' poll.

We asked our registered readers whether they applied sunscreen to protect their skin from the sun.

Over half (54%) said they did, but only sometimes, while as many as 16% said they never did.

Thirty per cent said they always applied sunscreen before exposing themselves to the sun.

Of course they said only sometimes - we don't exactly live in the tropics and apart from agri-workers most people are not outside all day in fine weather anyway.
