Six more women face cancer review

[Posted: Thu 29/11/2007]

Six women who had cancer tests at the Mid-Western Regional Hospital in Limerick have recently been recalled for surgical reviews.

According to a report in The Irish Times, the recall of the women is part of the current investigation into the Rebecca O'Malley breast cancer misdiagnosis being carried out by the Health Information and Quality Authority (HIQA).

This review is looking at pathology tests at Cork University Hospital and symptomatic breast cancer tests at Limerick Regional Hospital.

The six women have reportedly been told by telephone that there is no cause for alarm and their results are being double-checked for completeness.
