What is Transcendental Meditation?

Transcendental Meditation is a type of meditation which is practised twice daily for a period of 15-20 minutes. The technique primarily involves sitting comfortably with the eyes closed. Each student is given a mantra and is instructed in inducing relaxation through use of the mantra.

It is estimated that in the last 40 years, over five million people around the world have learned TM.

What happens during Transcendental Meditation?

During TM the body becomes more relaxed. The person's awareness settles down to a state of restful alertness.

Do I have to lead a certain type of lifestyle before I can learn Transcendental Meditation?

No. Anybody can take part in Transcendental Meditation, it does not matter what type of lifestyle you lead.

You do not need to change anything. It does not matter what type of diet you have, what type of exercise you take or what kind of job you have.

Does Transcendental Meditation involve any religious belief?

No. Transcendental meditation does not involve any religious belief or practise. People of any religion can practise TM.

What are the effects of Transcendental Meditation?

It is claimed that TM can have a number of positive effects including:

  • An increase in energy.
  • An improvement in health.
  • A reduction in stress and anxiety.
  • An increase in creativity.
